Settle MCP Server

Create group decision polls from Claude, ChatGPT, or any MCP-compatible AI assistant.

What it does

The Settle MCP server gives AI assistants two tools: one to create a group decision poll and one to check its results. Polls are shareable via a link and voters need no app or account.

Tools

create_poll

Creates a poll with 2–6 options and a deadline (5 minutes to 7 days, default 60 minutes). Returns a settle.ink link anyone can open and vote on. Voters answer yes, no, or maybe on each option. The poll closes at the deadline and picks the winner automatically.

ParameterTypeRequiredDescription
questionstringYesThe decision question (max 140 characters)
optionsstring[]Yes2–6 options to vote on (max 200 chars each)
deadline_minutesintegerNoMinutes until the poll closes. Default 60, max 10,080 (7 days)

check_results

Fetches live vote counts, status, and the winner (once the poll has closed) for a poll identified by its 6-character short code.

ParameterTypeRequiredDescription
short_codestringYesThe 6-character poll code returned by create_poll

Authentication

None required. The server uses anonymous guest tokens for rate limiting. No API key, no account, no sign-up.

Rate limits

Each guest token can have up to 3 active polls at a time. There is a global cap of 100 guest poll creations per hour. If you hit a limit, the tool returns a retry-after value in seconds.

Setup: Claude Desktop

Add this to your claude_desktop_config.json:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "settle": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["-y", "settle-mcp"]
    }
  }
}

The server stores your guest token locally at ~/.settle-mcp/guest_token so your rate limit follows you across sessions.

Setup: Remote (HTTP)

Point any MCP-compatible client at the remote endpoint:

https://settle.ink/api/mcp

The remote transport is stateless. The model carries the guest_token in tool arguments between calls.

Privacy

No personal data is collected. Guest tokens are random identifiers used only for rate limiting. See our privacy policy.
